Manydelegateshavehadsuccessfulcontactswiththeirlocal
emergencymanagementagencies,andtheyofferedtheir

experiencesandsuggestionsformakingapersuasive

presentationoftheTrailerProgram.

5.AnupdateoftheJudgingTaskForcewasgiven.The

TaskForceincludesDr.CharlesGarvin,DougJohnson,Kent
DelaneyandDarylHendricks.Theyareinvestigating
a)distancelearning,b)anassessmentforjudges’
performance,andc)anassessmentofperformanceina
judge’sapplicationfornewbreeds.

6.TheSeptemberBODmeetingapprovedapolicy

effectiveimmediatelythatifanall-breedclubrefused
toaccommodateanationalevent,thespecialtyclub
mayappeal.

7.TheAll-BreedE-Listhas318members.All-breed

Programhasbeenpresented.Eachparentclubwillhave
theopportunitytoparticipateinthisself-evaluation.

Pointsaregivenforthingssuchashavingarescue

program,membereducation,judges’education,breeder
referral,anewsletter,etc.Preliminaryresultsshowthat
thesizeoftheparentclubdoesn’timpacttheresults.This
programisnotmandatory,butisencouraged.Returned
assessmentsdonotidentifytheparentclubbutareusedfor
theresultsonly.Continuationofthisprogramwilldepend
onparentclubparticipation.

2.14,500CGCtitleshavebeenawarded,about1,000

eachmonthsincetheprogrambegan.

3.E-Balloting.Delegatesreporteddifficultygetting

informationfromthestateoftheirparentclub’s
incorporationaboutitspermissiontousee-balloting.Several
delegatesreportedontheirpersonalexperienceandoffered
suggestionsonhowtoobtainreliableinformation.

4.TrailerProject.Withinthefirst90daysintothe

project,morthan$200,000hadbeenraised.Sofar,66clubs

areparticipating(includingPBGVCA).Thefirst

trailerwasoutwithinthefirst30days.AKC

ReUniteisorderingtrailersinlotsofthree.

Eachparticipatingparentclubwillgetto

knowwhereitstrailerislocated.

5.MeettheBreeds.InNewYork,142

breedsparticipatedwithsome35,000people

comingthroughtheevent.InFlorida,160

breedsareparticipating.

6.TheAKCBODhasapprovedareducedfeeof

$10forJuniorsinJuniorShowmanshipwhenadding

thejunior’snameontheownershippapersforadogorto
removethejunior’snamefromtheownership.Thissingle
changeonlyisincludedinthereducedfee.

7.Dr.DuaneButherus,CHFChairmanoftheBoard,

presentedacomprehensivereviewoftheCHFprocess.130
breedclubshavesubmittedbreedhealthissues;e.g.,49
clubshavereportedbloat.Topconcernsareputtogether
todistributetosome4,300researcherstoinviteresearch
proposals.Theseproposalsaresubjecttopeerview.CHF
looksatasignificantnumberofcriteriatorankorder
whichresearchtofund.Theseinclude,amongothers,the
incidenceacrossnumerousbreeds,thedevastatingimpact
toasinglebreedandiftheresearchmightalsohelppeople.
Theserank-orderedprojectsarefundeddowntothelimits
ofthefunds.TheDonorAdviseFundswerediscussedwith
manyquestionsfromtheaudience.Dr.Butherusagreedto
writesomethingforourclubstohelpusbetterunderstand
theirprogramandhowwecanbestparticipateforthe
healthofourbreeds.

8.TheAKCBoardwillmatch“newmoney”fortheCHF.

“Newmoney”isdefinedasanyonewhohasn’tdonated
since1-1-12.

9.TheJudgingTaskForcewasreviewed.Thegoalis

toimprovejudgingandtoreduceexpensestobecome
qualified.Parentcubsappeartobeinterestedinthe
DistanceLearningProgramwith85percentinfavorofthe
idea.Vendorsforcomputerservicesarebeingsought.Apilot
programwiththreeparentclubswilltesttheconcept.In
general,itwillbeavirtual,on-linedogshowwithsixdogs
(threegoodandthreenot-so-good).Eachwillhaveaphoto
ofthehead,theside,fromthefrontandfromtherear,plus
movingdown,back,around.Tenbreedexpertswillhave
rankedthedogs.Theprospectivejudgewillthenbeable
totakethetest.Therewasalotofdiscussionandgood
questionsfromtheaudience.Allagreedthatthephotos
andmovementvideoshadtoadheretoastandardized
format.Ifthereisanycosttoaparentclub,wearetokeep
trackofthemoneyspentandhowmuchtimeisinvested
intheprogram.

10.Ifaparentclub“optsout”ofawardingamajorforthe

ReserveWinner,itmustbeprintedinthepremiumlist.

11.Aproposedrulechangeforsanctioned“B”matches

willallowFSSandmiscellaneousintotheirrespective
groups.
