he2014nationalspecialtywasoneofthemostexpan-
sivenationalsyet,spanningeightdayscommencing
onSaturdaywithatourofSkycastleKennelsand

endingthefollowingSaturdaywiththeannualbanquet.
Notsince2005havetherebeenthreeconformationshows
duringnationalsweek.ThankyouMid-NewJerseyPBGV
Associationforjoiningus.Inadditiontoconformation,
thereweretwodaysofhunt,twoagilitytrials,twodaysof
obedienceandrallyaswellasaCGCevaluation.

NewthisyearwasthefirstannualTop20Invitational

with10dogsparticipating.Allwhoattendedenjoyedthe
champagneanddessertbuffetaswellasthecompetition
andcamaraderie.

Theseminarswerewell-attendedandsparkedmany

positivecommentsaswellassomelivelydiscussions.Zack
Helmeragainpresentedhispopulargroomingseminar,
illustratinghowtogroomaPBGVwhilemaintainingthe
natural,tousledlook.JeffPepperpresentedanewprogram
thathehasdevelopedonthebreedstandard.Each
attendeealsoreceiveda20+pagebookletthatwentalong
withtheseminar.Attheend,Jeffputbluetapeonthelegs
oftwodogsandhadeachdogmovearoundthering.It
wasamazingtoseehowthebonesactuallymoveasthe
dogmoves.Thishelpedeveryoneunderstandbetterthe
importanceofstructureonmovement.Thissparkedalot
oflivelydiscussion.

canineathlete.Shealsofocusedonmovementofthedog.
ThisseminarisreviewedbyIngridaRobinsoninanother
sectionofthisissue.

TheGBGVclubcameonedayandheldamatchand

judges’education.

Everydaywasjam-packed.Aneventofthismagnitude

isatremendousundertakingandneverwouldbepossible
withoutthehardworkofallthecommitteeheadsand
theircommitteemembers.Thankyoutoallinvolved—
youmademyjobsomucheasier!Whatmostpeopledo
notrealizeisthatplanningforanationalstartstwoto
threeyearsinadvanceanddemandsmuchtimeandeffort
intheensuingmonths.
