tained his Championship on Sept 4, 2009.  I also became interested in Agility and started training both Red and Jessie in

Agility and started to compete with both.  Ben joined Jessie and Red in Agility and soon surpassed both of them in titles.

Jessie is no longer competing in Agility after obtaining her Excellent titles in Standard and Jumpers.  Red got his PACH title

August 28, 2015 and Ben got his PACH3 August 11, 2016.  We have also participated in Rally.  Jessie has her RAE title and

both Red and Ben have their RE titles.

What other pets have you had?

We have had other breeds of dogs in the past, English Springer Spaniels and Miniature Dachshunds and at one time we had

5 dogs living with us in Pennsylvania.

How long have you been involved in the club?

We have been members’ of the PBGVCA since 2007 and have also been members of the Carolina PBGV Club since 2007.

Among my many “hobbies” have been tropical fish (I was able to purchase my first car with money earned selling tropical

fish to pet stores when I was a teenager), trout fishing (I still trout fish when we travel to Pennsylvania every June), hunting

(has been very limited since obtaining PBGVs), wood working (including furniture, folk-art whirly-gigs, clocks, and hand

crank “toys”, two hand crank toys were donated to the annual PBGVCA raffle at the National), and gardening (vegetable

garden and greenhouse orchids). Additionally, I have become involved in computers and computer programs especially Ex-

cel (I was able to simplify and speed up the data processing of the PBGV Hunt Tests with a specialized Excel spreadsheet).

I had the honor to receive The Outstanding Member Award from PBGVCA in 2013 for my work with the hunt program. I

also maintain and update the Carolina PBGV Club’s web site at www.carolinapbgv.org and I am a member of the PBGVCA

Executive Hunt Committee as Hunt Records Archivist & Documents.

What activities do you enjoy about your PBGV?

When it comes to hunting all three hounds just love to chase those rabbits. We have been to most hunt venues offered; to

date: New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana and Wisconsin.  We did miss the one hunt in Illinois. (Please

don’t ask how many miles we have added to our vehicles over the years.)  Currently, Jessie has her RHX6 (Rabbit Hunter

Excellent 6).  Red has a RHX5 and Ben has a RNX4 and it doesn’t look like they will slow down anytime soon.  As a side

note, Jessie usually out scores her boys in the hunt tests.

What do I like most about PBGV’s?

I like their versatility; hunting, agility, tracking, obedience, rally, barn hunting, search and rescue, and therapy dog.  They

can even be guard dogs, if you consider barking guarding!  But I guess, most of all, what I like is their love for hunting.

They never stop hunting when in the field.

Tell us about yourself...

We live on an organic farm along the main Umpqua River in Oregon. Surrounded by pure, fresh air, scents of nature, calls

and views of wildlife as they forage for food along the river and acres of soil on which to frolic, play and train, Toujours is

in “Hound Heaven Here on Earth” and we are totally blessed and thankful for him each and every day.
