Welcome to the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Club of America

The Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Club of America (PBGVCA) is recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) as the official Parent Club for the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen breed. The club was formed to encourage and promote quality of purebred Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, at the AKC Centennial Show in Philadelphia, in November 1984. Eleven individuals, representing several states and a variety of breeds, but all with years of experience in dogs, constituted the foundation of the national club.
The purposes of the club shall be:
- To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
- To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the club as the only standard of excellence for the breed.
- To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, performance events, agility events, obedience trials, and field trials.
- To urge members to abide by the club’s Breeders’ Code of Best Practices.
- To conduct American Kennel Club sanctioned events under rules and regulations of the American Kennel Club.
- To educate those interested in the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen.
